FAQ Regarding This Trek

The ideal time for this 12-day Kullu Manali tour is between April to June when temperatures range from a pleasant 15°C to 30°C, making outdoor activities and sightseeing comfortable. September-October is another excellent window with crisp autumn air and clear mountain views perfect for photography. While winters (December-February) offer snow in Solang Valley, some routes like Jalori Pass may close. Monsoon months (July-August) bring heavy rainfall that can cause landslides, potentially disrupting travel plans. The package is designed to showcase the valleys at their scenic best during stable weather conditions.

The Kheerganga trek is moderately challenging, covering 12 kilometers with an elevation gain of about 1,200 meters over 5-6 hours. The well-marked trail passes through pine forests, waterfalls and small villages, with some steep sections requiring reasonable fitness. First-time trekkers should wear proper hiking shoes, carry at least 2 liters of water, and start early to avoid afternoon sun. Those preferring lighter activities can opt to stay in Kasol and visit nearby Chalal village instead. Our guides pace the trek comfortably with multiple rest stops.

The tour offers abundant vegetarian choices featuring local Himachali cuisine like Siddu (steamed buns) and Madra (yogurt-based curry), alongside regular North Indian dishes. Most homestays and hotels serve fresh, organic meals with ingredients sourced from valley farms. Kasol's cafes cater to diverse palates with Israeli, Italian and continental options. Special dietary needs (vegan/jain) can be accommodated with prior notice. Do try the locally grown apples and freshly squeezed juices in Tirthan Valley.

Your journey begins with an overnight Volvo AC bus from Delhi to Manali featuring reclining seats and basic amenities. For hill travel, we use rugged 4x4 SUVs (Mahindra Scorpio/Toyota Innova) with experienced drivers who know mountain routes intimately. Vehicles are well-maintained with safety features and comfortable for small groups. The itinerary includes strategic stops every 2-3 hours for restroom breaks and photography. Those preferring premium transport can upgrade to tempo travelers or private cars.

While the highest point (Jalori Pass at 3,120m) is generally safe, we've designed the itinerary for gradual acclimatization. The first two nights in Manali (2,050m) help your body adjust before proceeding to higher areas. Guides carry basic medical kits and oxygen cylinders as precaution. To minimize altitude risks, we recommend staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol initially, and consulting your doctor about Diamox if prone to altitude sickness. The route avoids sudden high-altitude gains, making it suitable for most healthy travelers.
